DAY 70
Wow day 70 ! Brendan is slowly getting better in his spirit. He is awake and chatting every day. He is enjoying playing again and is starting to talk about his future. His doctors have agreed that Brendan needs some time away from the ward. Once Richard is better (he now has the O'Loughlin cold) Brendan can start having visits to our unit at Ronnie Mac House. We move into our unit today.
Our new phone number at Ronnie Mac House is:
02 93822969.
It has been 24 hours since Brendan's last fever. We are all trying very hard not to get too excited. Brendan is very fragile. He is trying to get up and about and is taking quiet strolls around the ward. Any exertion wears him out very quickly. We are trying to get as much nourishment as possible into him. This is difficult as he is struggling with nausea. He really needs to have his naso-gastric feeds but they seem to cause him to wake up every morning feeling sick. By lunch time he usually has improved and is sitting next to me today eating some party pies.
Everything is still a fine balancing act but each day gives us all a little more hope that Brendan will be out of hospital soon.
Talk to you all soon
Love Anna xoxo

Hi Anna and Richard
The Blog is a great idea as it must save you saying the same thing over and over again.
The GNI Mums have been trying to keep up with the news and update each other whenever we catch up.
We had a GNI at my place last night but it was a bit late by the time we thought about ringing you. I am guessing you would hit the sack early as I am sure you would all be exhausted.
Its great to hear Brendan is picking up and his fevers dissipating. Even better to see him smile and even eat!
I notice you have a new number. Will try and ring you over the next couple of days if you feel like a chat.
Big hugs to all the O'Loughlins (but gentle one for Brendan).
Love Jo and the other GNI Mums - Rachel, Cathie, Donna, Roxley and Ally.
